Creck, Bullets in contrasting top-flight runs

As the FDH Bank Premiership enters the seventh week, Creck Sporting Club remain the only side yet to register a win while FCB Nyasa Bullets boast being the only team yet to taste defeat.

The Lilongwe-based Creck Sporting have lost four matches, drawn two and anchor the 16-team top-flight with two points.

Their poor run, which culminated in a 2-0 home defeat to fellow capital city-based  Blue Eagles on Saturday, led to some of their fans blocking the players’ boarding  the team bus at Aubrey Dimba Stadium in Mchinji, demanding an explanation on the poor performance.

The club’s general secretary Aaron Ntaya admitted that the team appears out of sorts.

“We were expecting to turn the corner and start producing good results by now, but we continue to struggle. We are trying to get to the bottom of the struggles,” he said.

Ntaya said the recent brief suspension of the head coach Elia Kananji was part of the process of trying to identify the problem.

Kananji could not be reached for comment yesterday.

In contrast, Bullets are yet to lose a game, but have registered four draws, the highest so far.

Despite not losing a match, the People’s Team are sixth on the standings with 10 points from five matches.

Champions and leaders Mighty Wanderers have scored the highest number of goals, 13, three more than second-placed Silver Strikers.

The Nomads, the Bankers and third-placed Blue Eagles are tied on 13 points and only separated by goal difference.

With four wins each, the three teams have the highest number of victories.

Lilongwe-based Kamuzu Barracks (KB) and Goshen City Dedza Dynamos have let in nine goals each, the highest so far.

Dedza Dynamos  scored their first goal in the campaign on Saturday in their 1-0 win over KB.
